Dogbit: Megat

I couldn't sleep so I created a collage of my pet.
This one is a comic creation of me and Megat!
What are the applications I use for both photos?

My collage photo was edited by using quite a few applications. ColorSplash, Collage and Labelbox. My 'comic-like' photo was edited by HalfTone application. You can try them out if you're interested to create artistic and fanciful photos like this!

PS: I'm blogging on-the-go using 'Blogpress' application from my iPhone.

Rango

Its been 5 days of me having a bad sore throat .. A heavy head that accompanies with an excruciating headache and fever. But, I still met my partner awhile ago (because I miss him so much!) and we went to catch a movie I wanted to see. (above) My partner was not feeling well too. If you read my previous entry of his bad fall, his wound is still in a slightly bad shape but its healing.. As for me, my sickness (as mentioned before) come and go, its crazy! We went to Unity and got items for his dressing and my self-medication. I felt its kinda romantic that we're falling sick together but we're both feeling very horrible. We hope by late April, we'll be in our pink of health!

I painfully forced myself to eat Cabonara from PastaMania. It was the first time we're lacking of appetite.  We sat outside of the restaurant because I couldn't stand the cold due to my unstable body temperature. While we're eating, it suddenly started to rain and it gives us a sense of calmness. Another romantic moment, although it was not at such a posh place. Sometimes, simple is good.

Rango was surprisingly draggy and predictable. I was slightly upset because people told me that the movie would be hilarious and movie reviews gave Rango, 4 stars! There were a little bit of humor, here and there. Rango is a house chameleon with no friends and his owner had a terrible accident and that got him stranded in a dessert. As a chameleon who's stucked in a glass tank since born, he struggles to find his identity asking himself, "Who am I?" repeatedly. So he met other stranded creatures and created a heroic story so as to gain respect from them. Since, no one knows who he really is. After that, it got kinda predictable. He became the watchmen of the place and the leader of the town eventually become the bad guy. They were all fighting for their lives against draught. He eventually became the hero of the town and manage to bring water for everyone. But it took nearly two hours for the movie to bring us to that ending. My partner and I were getting so restless..

Regardless, I love the animation. It was so close to the real thing. I also like how they added musical owls to tell the story. It creates more live to the movie when they sing.

Hence, I will award this movie 3 out of 5 popcorns.

First Picture of the New Wonder Woman

Looks like they've opted to put the newest incarnation of Wonder Woman (Adrianne Palicki) in a pants. I'm guessing that's more practical for all the ninja action we're going to see in this modern adaptation. She's pretty... but I'm still not sure anyone can measure up to Lynda Carter. What do you think when comparing the two?

These days, you would never see such products. But it is sure fun to look at them today. It's hard to create brand loyalty when your customers keep dying. It's hard to believe some of things people use to pay to subject themselves to.

Book Review: “Fatal Alliance” by Sean Williams

This is the first in a new series of Star Wars books taking place during an era thousands of years before the movies, a time called The Old Republic. What started out as a videogame, specifically a MMO like World of Warcraft, has become a multimedia effort bringing in books and comics to flesh out the story as well. Being the first book released for a game that hasn’t come out yet, Fatal Alliance is for many their first taste of what to expect. For those with no plans to play the game, the book has to be judged on its own merits. While I have no plans to play the game, I chose to review the book taking into consideration both angles that a reader might be coming from.

Many of the reviews I’ve seen for Fatal Alliance have chosen to focus in on the core cast of characters, and the fact that they seem to have been created for the sole purpose of using every character class that’s going to be available in the game. That thought actually rarely ever occurred to me. One reason is because these character types are really what you’d expect in any Star Wars book – a couple of Sith, a few Jedi, a few soldiers, some smugglers, a bounty hunter and a spy. But what really makes it work is the author’s ability to have you care about those characters – and how well they’re integrated into the plot. So, I’m going to focus less on the characters themselves and more on the plot – and how their stories are integrated into it.

In this time period, the Sith Empire and the Republic have reached a truce to the long standing war between them. A smuggler named Jet Nebula (yeah, it’s a slightly lame name, but the rest make up for it – and it does sound like the kind of name a game player would pick) winds up getting his hands on a secret item, one which could give a huge advantage for one of these powers over the other. The Hutt that he works for decides to hold an auction – inviting representatives from the Republic and Sith Empire to attend. Of course the Sith send one of their dark lords, Darth Chratis, and his apprentice Eldon Ax – figuring they will just take what they want from the Hutts. The Republic meanwhile sends Envoy Vii to represent them, who is in actuality an undercover spy for the Empire – which would ensure the Empire has the upper hand if not for the fact that the Jedi decide to secretly send their own representative to the talks as well.

Padawan Shigar teams up with former Republic soldier Larin. They each have their problems – he can’t seem to get past his stage of training to become a Jedi Knight, she was dishonorably discharged for informing on an officer (who later turned out to be at fault). They both secretly enter the Hutt’s palace hoping to beat the Sith to the prize – but just as each party tries to spring it’s own trap, a Mandalorian bounty hunter named Dao Stryver makes off with it – but not before they all see that what it is that they’ve been planning to bid on. They are self-replicating robots, highly intelligent and very powerful warriors – and not only could they give one side an advantage over the other, but left to their own devices, they might be a threat to the entire universe. Now it’s a race against time to trace the bounty hunter, and through him find out the origin of these robots – and the connection their creator has with one among their number.

This is a large Star Wars story, over 400 pages, with plenty for fans of this type of serial space opera to dig into. With all these different groups there are constant scene changes and mini cliffhangers, lots of action to break up the story. I didn’t feel like any character was just shoe-horned into the story, they all would have been a part of it even if it hadn’t been a class in the game. I’m not sure how much game players will actually get out of this book in terms of hints about the game (beyond what they might be able to expect while playing as one of these classes), but as a general reader of Star Wars books I found it a very enjoyable experience. Unlike many Star Wars books, in thinking back over Fatal Alliance I find that I don’t have any criticisms of the story – there were no glaring issues or strange character moments. It has an excellent ending, while still allowing for the possibility of these characters to be used again in future stories. There’s growth along the way for each one of them, so you don’t feel like anyone really stayed exactly the same from beginning to end (a fault that can sometimes appear in other Star Wars books). There are space battles, lightsaber fights, chase scenes and lots of strange planets to visit, not to mention scheming Sith lords – everything you’d want out of a great Star Wars book.

One of the 100 selected participants for Eye for Beauty Challenge.

Immelia and I are among the 100 selected participants for this Eye for Beauty Makeover Challenge.
Have you read my blog entry on what happened on crazy March Twelve? Now all the makeover pictures are out and I need you to help me and Immelia! Like our photo!

I hope the both of us will be among the top three participants and we'll be warmer to Paris!

Drop it like its hot.

The past few days, I was feeling awful because of my sore throat and excruciating headache but I refuse to stay home. Stubborn, I know. This time I went to the garden situated in front of Chinese Garden MRT with my beloved sister and cousin. It was our first time there and we were looking forward to see what's inside. The blistering heat did not stop us from walking and I force myself to be well throughout the whole walk. I wore slippers together with my sister, my cousin wore shoes, thinking it will just be one of those walks you'll have around the park. Our shoes (my sister and I) were totally worn out!

We started out walking around Japanese Garden.

After that, we decided to check out Chinese Garden, which was not as interesting as Japanese Garden. We went to an adventure playground. There's also a skateboard park! I thought this week, primary, secondary and Pre-Uni students are having holidays so I'm wondering why the place was so empty.. But, I guess it is also a weekday. I do see a few group of kids with their mommies (definitely, housewives) cycling around the park, foreigners and foreign workers. There were girls running around too. I would have done that, if only I had/wore proper shoes. Anyway, my cousin and sister climbed up all the way to the top and down this big net. Its been awhile since they did climbing. They sure had fun!

I didn't miss out on the fun too. I was swinging from left to right. It was nice to act like a kid sometimes!

After all the laughing, we continued to walk around Chinese Garden.

We saw this Pagoda (below) before walking to Japanese Garden. We wanted to climb up all the way to the top and we thought we'll leave as a final obstacle before rewarding ourselves with delicious food.

By this time, the heat was extremely hot and we were sweating!
When we went into the Pagoda and saw the swirling step to the highest floor.
We nearly died! But, we encourage each other to climb up all the way to the top.
A this point of time, we were already exhausted.

When we finally reached the top. We were rewarded by such a beautiful sight. It left me dumbfounded in a good way of course. I was not feeling too good at this point of time but the scenery was amazing..
We came down and took a rest at the shady area, on the ground-floor of the Pagoda monument and while we were resting, we're astonished by the obvious instant tanned skin on our exposed areas! I took pictures of it but I'm not too sure if you can see it, properly.. It goes to show how evil the heat was from the sun in the early afternoon. I suggest the best time you wanna walk around the garden will be after 1500hrs, although there's still sun, it is not as bad as noontime. I ran out of sunblock too and my face was flushed and dark. It was crazy fun albeit slightly unprepared for what's to come. The garden closes at 2300hrs daily with some parts closing at 1900hrs. Its an ideal place for a picnic, wedding and gathering too! There's a live turtle and tortoise museum too, if you're interested. You can hold the turtle/tortoise, feed them and snap pictures with them. Its SGD$ 5/entry. We didn't pay the turtle/tortoise a visit, so we're definitely planning to come back here again with the rest of our big family!

Can you see the difference between the right and left side, it gradually becomes darker!

My sister's feet had the Birkenstock strap (covered surface) lighter as compared to the rest of her feet.

After all the walking, we had lunch. Upon reaching home, we fell asleep till evening. It was very tiring! I got sicker when I got home. I had migraine and a horrible throat for the past few days which includes my JB trip with my relatives and, awhile ago I had an unexpected high fever. My migraine and sore throat worsen and I popped two tablets of paracetamol and cried while I took a torturous cold shower and continues to take short naps. Right now, throat's slightly numb. Migraine and fever seem to have disappeared. I do not want to pospone my attachment so I have to get well by Sunday!
