Sponsored/Advertorial Post: Freshlook ambassadors Eye for Beauty Workshop by Make Up Store.

I miss attending to beauty workshops. Missed it so much that, I couldn't even recall the last beauty workshop I attended. Was it Shiseido or CHANEL workshop? I don't know if I blogged about my last participating workshop. Sigh. So, this email was like godsend. I bet he knew I miss beautifying myself so much. So, I received an email, inviting me to attend a beauty hands-on workshop with the great Olle Johansson, a renowned celebrity makeup artist. This event was organized by Yolk, proudly sponsored by Make up Store and CIBA VISION. In conjunction with Freshlook Ambassadors, CIBA VISION provided a pair of Freshlook COLORBLENDS lens and what we did was to learn how to match the color lens (of our choice) together with our eye color.
The event was not open to public. It took place at a cozy standalone store in Paragon. I was the early bird and very excited. I really love attending beauty workshops. It constantly reminds me to take care and not neglect myself...
Mr. Olle Johansson shared quite a handful of makeup tips with us throughout the workshop. I'll try my best to remember as much as I can. He hates rules when it comes to make up application. He realized that most Singaporean women frequent questions are playing with colors on their eyes. But he believes color is not important, form is. Well, not that he's against color but he wants to emphasize on the foundation of the skin. Some women unknowingly apply uneven foundation and of a different color. Some neglect their ears, as well. He introduce this iHen's color chart system. It some sort like a color wheel. The one Sharon's holding. He shared with us how color coordination work with that chart.

I'll try my best to explain how this color chart works. I tried googling iHen's System but to no avail. So, anyways, as you can see from the chart primary colors consists of YELLOW, BLUE and RED. If you mixed the following colors accordingly, it produces the secondary colors:
YELLOW+RED=ORANGE
YELLOW+BLUE=GREEN
RED+BLUE=PURPLE
If you draw an imaginary line DIAGONALLY:
ORANGE+YELLOW+GREEN= WARM Colors
RED+PURPLE+BLUE= COLD Colors
OMG. How should I go about explaining this? This is harder than I thought...
Please let me know if you have no clue what I'm writing about.. I'll probably do a video explanation or something.
If you're using green contact lens, the best eye shadow colors are orange, red and purple.
If its a blue colored lens; red, orange and yellow color eye shadow suits best.
You may ask, what about brown colored lenses?
Orange is the closest to brown so the best color eye shadow will be green, blue and purple.
I'm not sure which color is the closest to grey, anyone's splendid which color mixes?
I have to manually mix the colors so that I know which is the closest to grey.
If you have the time and you know which is the closest, the three colors opposite will suit your eyeshadows best!
"Never apply makeup someone like how you apply makeup on yourself." ~Olle Johansson.
Mr. Olle Johansson showed us that with brown contact lens works well with green, blue, purple and even the color closest to it, orange. You can see a mixture of black color and I'm sure you know that black suits almost everything. But why be boring and only play with black color, right? He added the red lip color for a classy, bold and daring look. Sharon looked good with red lips! With the aid of  the iHen's color wheel system, you can never go wrong! While the make up demonstration was ongoing, he shared a whole bag of tips:
  1. When you buy a foundation, check for the right color at the side of the cheek. If you can see the color of the foundation, don't buy it. If you can't see it, buy it!
  2. Eye shadows should ONLY be applied on the eyelid.
  3. Try not to apply powder foundation under the eye. it will turn out "cakey".
  4. When you want to contour your cheeks, put your thumb on the tragus of your ear, that's when the contouring starts. Put a hint of the remaining powder (contour) onto your forehead, and the nose bridges to create a 3D effect of your makeup. Nose Bridges creates an illusion of sunken pair of eyes.
  5. Hollywood's Ol' Skool Mascara application 101: Apply mascara, dab powder on the lashes and apply mascara again.
Now it's my turn to apply makeup. My lens of choice? Pure Hazel.
A shot of myself and Immelia, after dolling ourselves up:
