In-thing: Eye-bags.

I told my school friends about an entry blogged by famous YouTube sensation, Michelle Phan who does fantastic make up tutorials, about eye bags being an in-thing. My friends burst out in laughter because they thought it was downright hilarious to embrace eye bags when it doesn't look good, especially on the ladies and I have to admit, initially I was slightly stunt by that post. When I googled, "baggy eyes are hot", all I see on the search page were surgery, removal of eye bags, etc.. Absolutely nothing about eye bags being the most attractive, whatsoever.

However, after much thought .. Ironically .. Her entry enlightens me..
When I look at my own eye bags, I was influenced by her entry..
Her entry made me feel good about my flaw and I like that.
My eye bags suddenly made my eyes look 'hot'!
I know, its crazy..

Nevertheless, I'm thankful that my eye bags aren't horrendously bulgy and panda-like!

Bad cosmetic testing secret.

I admit. After reading Renee and Sophie's entries about beauty companies that do animals testing, I was oblivious. I refuse to log on to PETA site and read about the animal testing.. Today, I saw it (above) and I read about it. How all my vulnerable, adorable bunnies were being tortured. Please stop. I'm so surprised a lot of the beauty companies (I know of) are animals testing! View the list here. I don't know what to do ... Sometimes, I wish I can accommodate more of Marshys and Megats in my home. I went to a Clinique Workshop yesterday and I'm glad that Clinique does not do animal testing. I'm currently using Biotherm because it works on my skin but when I found out they're animal testing.. I became helpless. I still have a few more products from Biotherm. I got my fiance to use Biotherm too.

What should I do? Another shocker was Lo'real. (a well-renowned beauty company) Lo'real has a whole lot of beauty brands under them and they are animal testing too! I'm gonna try as much as I can to stop purchasing beauty products that does testing on animals. I'm so stressed up right now because majority of my brand products does animal testing!

A magic potion for flawless skin.

Let me share with you a secret to 'flawless skin'.

Apply this, especially on the areas where pores are visible, on your cheeks. This product is so magical, wearing just this and a thin layer of foundation gives you a flawless finish!

Only when you try it, you will know what I'm talking about!

Sponsored Post: Clinique's "Find Your Perfect Match"!

I was so excited when I came across Renee's entry about a Clinique Event she co-hosted. She was allowed to invite her blog readers to the event and I know being a busy bee right now, we didn't have the time to catch up. So I took this opportunity to meet her and catch up as well! In addition to that, this is my first time going for a Clinique event. My sister and cousins tried Clinique products before and there were 50-50 good/bad feedbacks I get from them. I've never used Clinique before because I always thought it was only meant for severe acne-prone skin. I do have acne-prone skin during my teenage years but, back then, Clinique was too expensive for me. I tried Eversoft/OXY but eventually ZA Cosmetics worked for my skin at that time.

Ever since, I became the judge for CLEO Beauty Hall of Fame and received a truckloads of beauty products, I found out that Biotherm works perfectly on my skin! Happiness was kinda short-lived when I read Renee's/Sophie's entry with regards to Beauty Companies that test their products on animals (especially bunnies, the most vulnerable animals and my most favorite) applying Biotherm on my skin makes me feel guilty.. *sobs*

Moving on, if you've read about my engagement entry, the bag that I'm carrying was from my engagement party. (exchange of gifts) Personally, I find the bag very MIU MIU inspired. But, I'm a real sucker for Gyaru (not hardcore, by the way) fashion, I got this pretty bag from Samantha Thavasa! Currently, they officially opened two stores in Singapore. One in ION and the other (claimed to be young, hip and slightly more affordable range) is in Isetan, Wisma Atria!
I visited both stores. I bought my bag at ION Orchard and the 'S' keychain in Isetan, Wisma!
One item from each store!
So much for all the side-tracking, traveling from home to the heart of Singapore, I arrived just on time in Paragon. The event was held in front of GUCCI.

What I really like about Clinique's event presentation was the categorization based on women's common area of concerns like Oiliness, Blemishes, Pigmentation, Dullness, Dryness and Lines. Renee's good friend, Gloria and I voted for Dullness as our skin concern for that day.
I was so happy when I got to meet Renee. She was not as shy as compared to when I met her the first time during a Tweet Up event at The Garden Slug. She's very known for her writing at BeautyFool now, I'm so proud of her!

Jane enlightened us with her quirky humour and friendliness on Clinique's NEW Superbalanced Powder Makeup Powder with SPF 15. According to Jane, applying a foundation does not mean application throughout the whole face. That tip was something new to me. I always have that mindset that a foundation means full face and neck application. In fact, Renee shared her tip on finding the 'Perfect Match' foundation color by using natural light, preferably the sun, to pick the right one for your face. I'm sure many of you know that when you wanna get the right color, testing for the 'Perfect Match' foundation color has to be done just beneath your check, between your jaw and your neck area. It's hard to get natural light when you're in the mall and trying out the right shades and most often you only have shopping mall lights to determine the right shade..
Jane was explaining, with some help from Renee, about the star products for each area of concerns for most women in Singapore. I was approached by Yasmin, Renee's PR, to become a demo model for Jane that Saturday afternoon. I only had eyeliner on my face, light mascara, slightly darken my eyebrows, and added a hint of lip color on my lips. Sadly, none were from Clinique!
"'Smart' technology keeps dry areas comfortable, oily areas less shiny. No-waste grinder dispenses skin-defending vitamins with each twist. Fresh-shaved mineral powder clings evenly to skin. Lasts for up to 8 long hours. Includes antibacterial brush."
Currently, I'm using 2-3 foundations just to create a natural look which is why sometimes I love to go barefaced because applying makeup can really be time consuming, sometimes. Most importantly, I always have people telling me that applying makeup too often will dampen god's gift of natural beauty but after Jane applied this on my face, I realized applying this to achieve a natural complexion is so fast and simple! On top of that, it absorbs oil while maintaining skin's moisture balance, rich in minerals, protects with antioxidants, allergy tested, 100% fragrance free and Ophthalmologist tested with SPF 15 shield. I can use it everyday without harming my skin!

Jane saw pores on my cheeks. I have pores that will never shrink. She applied Clinique's NEW Pore Refining Solutions Instant Perfector on one of my cheeks and I swear my pore disappeared! Oh my, can you tell that I'm itching to switch from Biotherm to Clinique.. Sounds too good to be true but I really like  au natural beauty products. ones that doesn't make me look like I need to wear a mask while I'm out because I want to be able to show off my own skin to the world. Not makeup skills.
Here's a group shot of Renee's blog readers attendance on Saturday! From the left, Jane, Laura, Me, Renee and Gloria. Laura, Gloria and me were so psyched with the mini-bits (Famous Amos Cookies and Marigold Yoghurt Drink) and Goodies we received from Clinique!
Inside the goodie bag, I received a full size moisturizer and a mini lipstick sample.
Now, all I need is a cleanser and lotion to complete my basic 3 steps daily facial care!

Thank you so much BeautyFool and my endearing blogger friend, Renee for adding me to your list!
Till we meet again ... for more upcoming events ahead:)

Facial Splurge on Asian Skin Solutions.

I chanced upon Wendy's entry on Asian Skin Solutions and CozyCot awarding them the Beauty Award for 2010/11. I was slightly convinced and went on to their Facebook Page. I saw a lot of negative feedback but thought little of them. I found a complimentary facial and booked an appointment with them at Orchard Central. They told me it was a 2 hour facial, so I decided to get it done during my 4 hours break before the next lesson.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by the China ladyboss, if I'm not wrong. She directed me to the waiting room until a lady came and brief me through the whole session. I'm gonna be really brief about my experience there because to be honest, I didn't enjoy it. They were threatening and forcing me to sign up for their package. I refused them a lot of times and they kept pushing. My initial intention was to go for a complimentary facial because I have a special event going on this Saturday and I thought I'll be singing phrases about their good service rendered. Unfortunately, not. They recommend me a really expensive facial, I had to pay for and kept pushing me to buy the package.

In the end, I reluctantly bought their package. Instead of 2 hours happy facial become 3 hours of stress! They quote a SGD$4000 facial package. Some kind of PH indicator facial and lowered it to SGD$888 for 10 sessions. They claim it was a student package. I don't know what to believe anymore. I came with good intentions and they ripped SGD$888 out of me. It was the first time in my life, I spent on 'something that I can't see', if you know what I mean.

Things got slightly better when my cousin, bought the same package (slightly expensive) with additional eye mask therapy and session. She's very experience with all these beauty rituals and according to her Asian Skin Solution's facial packages are not bad/negotiably reasonable but service/ambience wise is an epic fail. OMG. I couldn't agree more. I actually like the facial treatment but the people working at Orchard Central, the unwelcoming place and the services rendered especially, overruled my whole facial experience. I was terribly disappointed actually. Traumatized on my virgin facial experience.

I'm gonna make full use of my 10 sessions. Spread it out, evenly till December 2012. I shall go with Vedure after this because I expect people to give me back my quality service!

Read this and you will know what I'm talking about.

Vanity Box.

I'm one happy beauty babe. I manage to get a ginormous make-up bag in Sephora, Takashimaya. It took me a year to get a real make up bag. I frequently change my make up bag because it was always too small for me. Trust me, I think my make up collection is more of like how some ladies are obsessed with shoes? They will buy a hella loads of 'em. Some uses them and some rarely but they simply love having the collection of shoes in their homes. Similarly to me but I'm obsessed with cosmetics. I use to buy a lot back then while I was working.. When I was selected as one of the Beauty Hall of Fame Judges, 2010 for CLEO Singapore, my collection of make up when out of control. I had too much to handle!

Sometimes, I wished I had the time to do a beauty review for each and everyone of it but my reality is simply too overwhelming.. I do not have the time and energy to do it.. Anyway, as soon as I reached home, I immediately arranged my cosmetics into my new make up bag:
I think I should stop calling it a make up bag. Sephora had a better name for it.
They call it the Vanity Box.
Damn right! It cost me SGD$150 and hopefully last me a long time coming!
