Baking Disaster.

Saturday was quite a challenging day for me. I was down with a bad flu and I had to help my closest cousin out with her wedding preparations.. She's getting married next week! I'm so excited! On top of that, I had to bake brownies for my in-laws as they invited my whole family (including my extended family) to their chalet gathering. I slept really late the day before and got up unexpectedly early. I got up with a heavy head and followed by a flu that totally spoiled my day!

I actually wanted to complete some of my school assignments but my plan kinda backfired. I tried real hard to control my flu but to no avail. If you've been reading my blog, you'll know that I'm very new to this cooking/baking thing and this is my first time baking.. I decided to start with this (below) instant baking first because I know baking from scratch can get a lil' complicated. Little did I know, instant baking was just as tough!
My mother and sisters swear by Betty Crocker. They're so delicious and satisfying! Most of the time I'll see my sisters and mom do the baking. Looks easy and quite idiot-proof actually 'cause the instructions were written at the back of the box. Now, its my turn to do three rounds of one original supreme and two triple chunk.
Baking disaster strikes!

Round One: I told my brother to buy the egg and I forgot to add the egg. *face palm* The cake didn't rise and it turned out real gooey too.
Round Two: Perfection because I remembered to add the egg! I used the non-stick pan!
Round Three: Totally messed up. I was really shocked when it didn't turn out right! i added the egg and all.. I didn't know what went wrong. I asked my sister and I told her that I was impatient to allow my brownies in round two to cool down so I replaced the non-stick pan to a round metal pan to bake them brownies. I set the heat to the same temperature and only the top part of the brownie was baked but not the inside, so I extended the timing to an additional 10 minutes.. When I opened the oven, the top part was burnt and the inside was still oozing batter. I didn't know swapping pan will create such a drastic outcome!
I was so stressed up that I kept texting my fiance about what a horrible baker I was and that I can never cook/bake like his mom. He told me that his mom was exactly like me before she thee wed, knows nothing about cooking/baking, but looking at how his mom did the beef and lamb 'satay' sticks from scratch ... I refused to believe him.

I'll be a working wife and mother in the future and I may not prepare an amazing dish like all them housewives do but, give me some time, I'm willing to learn..

I wanna be a 'complete package' to my fiance.
